Position Summary,
The High Power Electrical Power Engineer will be responsible for providing engineering support for the design, installation, and start-up of water pump station electrical systems, including the site electrical service.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will collaborate with various engineering disciplines in a team setting to deliver comprehensive electrical design and specifications for installing electrical power equipment and systems. Your responsibilities include:
- Offering engineering expertise for the design, functioning, and problem-solving of all electrical components and systems at water pump stations.
- Assisting in the design, construction, and start-u of electrical power systems for water pump stations.
- Coordinating electrical installation and maintenance tasks with electricians and local electrical utility personnel.
- Ensuring that all electrical designs and installations adhere to relevant codes and regulations.
- Verifying that all equipment is compatible with other mechanical and electrical systems, aligning with the power budget requirements of the facility.
- Conducting code reviews and analyses using standards such as NFPA 70E, NFPA 70 NEC, NFPA 497, NFPA 101, Vol 5 & 6 AFSPCMAN 91-710, and IBC.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
- P.E. (Professional Engineer License)
- 10 years of related experience
Desired:
- Proficiency in interpreting power and control schematics.
- Understanding of detailed technical equipment operation and maintenance (O&M) manuals.
- Familiarity with variable frequency drives (VFDs) and industrial pumps.
- Experience in controls using MODBUS communication.
- Knowledge of medium voltage distribution systems.
- Skills in control panel design and production.
- Understanding of power coordination and arc flash hazards.
- Capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- High degree of self-motivation and the ability to operate with minimal oversight.
- Strong organizational abilities.
- Aptitude for prioritizing and scheduling tasks effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
